ATV
Safety for Agricultural Workers
Many
farms have all terrain vehicles (ATVs) to get around with. Although
valuable tools in many situations. ATVs can be extremely dangerous
in the hands of an untrained person.
This booklet
talks about the potential dangers when operating an ATV on the
farm. It also outlines what personal protective gear should be
worn and how to perform a pre-trip inspection. It gives the operator
some ATV handling tips in various situations such as on hills
and slopes, going through water and around sharp curves.

This

This popular
booklet, which is in its second printing, gives safety tips for
farmers moving equipment on the roadway, and provides an overview

Employer’s Package was compiled for the convenience of all
Ontario Farming workplaces in an
effort to educate and build awareness of the three primary acts
which impact labour in this sector.
These Acts include: Employment Standards Act (ESA), Workplace
Safety & Insurance Act (WSIA) and the Occupational Health
& Safety Act (OHSA).
In
collecting the information contained in this package, the Farm
Safety Association made every effort to provide materials that
would be the most useful and relevant to any workplace in the
development of an initial Health and Safety Program.
The
intention of the package is to provide the support materials needed
to start on the road to developing a strong health and safety
culture for your working environment. Please note that this
package is by no means all-inclusive, but rather a stepping-stone
in the right direction.

Health

Details:
The Association
over the years had developed several manuals regarding Tractor
operation. During 2005 a new manual was produced to strengthen
employers knowledge of tractor hazards and assist in establishing
their workplace training program for tractor operation. Incidents
involving tractors are still the single most hazardous and tragic
in the farm workplace and account for more than 30% of the farm
workplace fatalities. Many of these incidents could be avoided
if parents and employers properly trained and supervised their
